every year i mention something like this: i love halloween. i love october. i love the fall. today, while trying to stay awake in class, i started making a list of movies to watch for the month of october--one a day. this list is in no way an indication of "the best horror movies ever". most of them have absolutely nothing to do with halloween. some of them aren't even scary. i couldn't actually limit it to just 31. so there's a couple of double feature sundays. feel free to add your own to the list:

1.It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown & Ernest Scared Stupid
2.Nightmare Before Christmas
3.Young Frankenstein
4.Haunted Honeymoon
5.Monster Squad
comedy week
1.Rocky Horror Picture Show
2.Arachnophobia
3.Monster Man
4.Creepshow
5.So I Married an Axe Murderer

3.Halloween
4.the Shining
5.the Thing
the undead week

4.Night of the Living Dead
5.Jacob's Ladder
last week of october: twisted individuals

For comedy week, I would totally trade out Creepshow with "Dead Alive", peter jackson's first big movie effort. It won an award for the most red jello used as blood in a film or something I think. Anyway, you must promise me you will see that. I'll even get it for you., but only if i get to watch it too...

so here are my random-thought-pattern comments in no particular order:
i'm not a real big fan of horror flicks. i just feel like 99% of them are excessively superficial and gratuitous. i know, i know - that's why most people love them. it just turns me off, though. /shrug
silver bullet!! man, i saw that movie when i was, like...8. thank-you neighbor parents who don't pay attention to the movies that their children rent!! :-D
cube rocks my face off. i love it.
don't play the soundtrack to ravenous while sleeping -- your dormmate will wake you up in a murderous stupor. (not kidding...this really happened.)
do offer your friends some stew after seeing ravenous. :-P
event horizon helped me brush-up on my latin.
i still need to see young frankenstein, rocky horror picture show, and so i married an axe murderer. yeah, i know. /nod- [ 2007.10.04 | 10:19:13pm ]

I have random thought patterns...I was just sayin...
Anyway, your list is totally missing the Garfield and Ghostbusters' Halloween specials. And I think Nightmare Before Christmas triggered my epilepsy, and that's terrifying all by itself.
I swear I still want a Fred mask from Donnie Darko, or a Jena Malone Mask, but I can't decide which one is freakier.
When I was younger, I used to have nightmares of giant spiders chasing me. When I grew up, I realized the spiders were the same size and I got bigger, and promised one day I would be as big as John Goodman so I can kill all the little freaks like he did, (with a flamethrower, of course).
I never realized how overly sarcastic and narcissistic Freddy Kruger was until I saw the Elm Street movies in college. It was more funny than scary.
Also, couldn't you put Event Horizon in with Space weekend instead of twisted individuals? This means you should watch it twice.
BTW, do you guys know of anyone who is freaking obsessed with fearing clowns? I saw IT the other day and totally found a great costume of him, and I wanna try it out first...- [ 2007.10.05 | 8:26:27am ]
