- i hate posting links to videos that you can't download (youtube, google video, break.com, metacafe...etc), but this is just too cool.

actually, you can download from google video. look on the right, where it says "download"...

not true. you actually download a 'playlist' if you will, then the google video player streams the video to your desktop. you never truly download it. it's just the matter of watching it in a browser versus watching it in the google video player.

there's always a way to download a streamed video. you just have to find out how to do it. fx even has some extensions to download videos from your favorite sites

how is the encoding? that's the thing that would bother me the most. re-encoding something that was already encoded is always a mess with poor quality results.

they pull the video straight from the site -- so most often they come in .flv formats (flash video), which was created pretty much for online streaming. there are free flv players that you can download--so i wouldn't try to re-encode it (though riva has a free player/converter).
