- When I decide to to something I am fully committed to see it through. I have begun a hand built sculpture out of clay that is a vessel you can crawl into. ( I have called it "going big" but has been dubbed "the Fort" for other reasons. Anyways let me know what you think. [1 comment]

- simply complicated. That is how I would describe life. The media, movies, music, artists, governments, politics, corruption, and the history of human beings and cultures world wide. Today's society moves at such a fast pace thanks to the internet and everyone can share their opinion. Everything is in competition for a voice, their voice in this "world", but the funny thing is that we only have an illusion of control. Whether it be a government, a belief, a religion, or just this idea of doing whatever you want because you as a human have that right and freedom we forget about the natural balance of things. Through out history civilizations have been wiped out or swallowed up by "greater" societies to further power and control. With the question of who has control, one must look at cause and effect, pride and egos, love and hate. So why this rant? Most likely a result of these new surroundings I find myself in, memphis news with some type of violence every day, or maybe it is my greek art class and the ability to survive as a culture thanks to the philosophers, and constant challenging of its various ideas. so what is the problem? Is it a lack of education? A lack of purpose? A broken system that breeds poverty and struggle? or just a lack of balance between hope and desperation. Once again no answers and I have to go back to the weekly balance of working(starbucks), learning(grad school), creating(studio artist), and life(my beautiful wife). [0 comments]

I was reading an article today and It made me think. For those who don't want to read the full thing It is about the complexity of the human brain(haha no pun intended). Paul Allen (the guy who helped create MSDOS1.0 as well as co-founder of microsoft and 41st richest person in the world) has created a series of computers to dissect and document the human brain gene by gene. the project has a website and they have already mapped a mouse brain.
No one knows how the human mind works. This statement to me raises questions of ethics, belief, and wonderment. Are we supposed to understand the way our minds work? Is science fiction's idea of giving a computer consciousness coming to life? The possibilities and experiments. All down to the very things that create our consciousness. Could memories be transplanted? Could shows like Chuck and My Own Worst Enemy come true? Mutant experiments? (hahaha. that's just ridiculus) [0 comments]

Dear MR. KNOW-IT-ALL
When my father died some years ago, my mother had his head cryogenically preserved. Now that Mom has passed, too—and is buried, not frozen—can I finally lay Dad's brain to rest? I always thought the cryonics thing was utter hooey, but it was important to her. [0 comments]
